Several nasty security exploits have been reported in Adobe Flash Player and Adobe has now released a new version to remedy the vulnerabilities. As there are reports of these vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild, it is recommended that you immediately update to the latest release from the Adobe web site.
There are two separate installation / upgrade packages for Windows... One for Microsoft Internet Explorer and the other for "plugin based" browsers such as FireFox, Netscape, etc.. If you have both browsers, you need to apply both updates.
This Service Pack is a cumulative update including all previous updates. It should now be applied to ensure that you have any updates that were not previously loaded by updates and provide a new base for futute updates. WindowsXP is currently planned to be supported by Microsoft for security updates until 2014.
WARNING: Service Pack 3 regresses Adobe Flash Player to an earlier more vulnerable version unless the currently installed version is above V8. You should obtain the latest Flash Player from the Adobe web site.
While there has long been a "proof of concept" exploit in the Adobe Acrobat full version, recently a vulnerability has been discovered in Reader! It is very important to upgrade to at least Version 8.1.2, available from the Adobe web site, in which the vulnerability is fixed.
Last year, Systems-Go provided a work-around to assist with being able to receive the automated updates for CA AntiVirus 2007 when the logged in user did not have system administrative priviledges. This issue has subsequently been fixed by CA and the work-aound ius no longer necessary.

26th September, 2006 - A newly found vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office is a particularly nasty one which has propted Microsoft to release a security patch outside their normal cycle of releases. The vulnerability affects the "Vector Markup Language" capability and can allow infection with a Trogan program simply by viewing a web site which contains the appropriate code. Internet Security organisations are reporting an increasing number of infections and warn that some forms of the exploit are not yet detectable by anti-virus software. Systems-Go recommends strongly that the Microsoft security patch be obtained and installed as an urgent priority. Details are available at Microsoft's web site and is also available to "Windows Update" and "Microsoft Update" service users.
30th June, 2006 - Microsoft has now discontinued the extended security support of these operating systems. This means that any new security vulnerabilities will not be addressed with patches. The risk of continuing to use these operating systems, particularly if accessing the Internet from them will rapidly become unacceptably high. Systems-Go recommends that wherever possible, an upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP will retain as much compatibility as possible while ensuring that the operating system will have continued security updates available from Microsoft. Windows XP comes in two flavours. Click here for more information.
8th April, 2006. One of System-Go's customers has received an offer to register an Australian Domain Name that was already registered to his company for a price significantly above the current market rates for accredited Primary Registrars. The "invitation" was set out to look like an invoice, and was understood to be an invoice until Systems-Go suggested that the customer look carefully to see if it was an invitation. A quick Google revealed that there ware a number of posts on the Internet about others who had also received these invitations. Systems-Go has submitted a complaint to auDA, the official Australian Domain Name authority and provides this warning to our clients.
