Civil penalties up to A$1.1M per day can be imposed on companies involved in or associated with the sending of SPAM (Uninvited Commercial Email) and could put your small business out of business overnight, or make a substantial dent in the profits of a bigger company. There are very specific requirements that will affect the sending of commercial or advertising messaging, regardless of the technology used (The legislation has been careful not to limit the definition of SPAM to a specific technology like email).
Systems-Go can audit the processes surrounding the sending of any commercial email along with the compliance of the emails to the requirements of the law. The report will identify any areas that could lead to penalties and indicate actions that must be taken to rectify the situation. There is currently a grace period for people and companies to become compliant, but this runs out in April 11th, 2004 and then the penalties will start.
